BAITADI: The risk of dengue is rising in Baitadi district, with seven confirmed cases reported so far, according to Jayasingh Badal, a laboratory technician at the District Health Office.
Following the detection of three cases in Dasharathchand Municipality, two in Puchaudi Municipality, and one each in Melauli and Patan municipalities, a ‘Find and Destroy Larva’ campaign has been launched to curb the spread of the disease.
As mosquito activity increases during the rainy season, the Health Office has initiated preventive measures in the district headquarters and Patan Bazaar.
The campaign, launched on Wednesday, involves health workers, security personnel, local representatives, civil society members, and residents, said Bipin Lekhak, the Health Office’s Information Officer.
In parallel, local governments have also intensified efforts. Dogadakedar Rural Municipality has begun a sanitation campaign every Friday, as part of broader dengue prevention activities.
According to Prayagraj Pant, Information Officer at Dogadakedar Rural Municipality, all schools, health posts, and government offices in the area have been asked to participate in the campaign, which will continue for three months.
