Ranjita appoints herself as parliamentary party leader of Nagarik Unmukti Party

KATHMANDU: Nagarik Unmukti Party Chair Ranjita Shrestha Chaudhary has appointed herself as the leader of the party’s parliamentary group, removing Gangaram Chaudhary from the position.

In a letter submitted to Speaker Dev Raj Ghimire on Wednesday, Shrestha stated that Gangaram had acted against the party’s interests and failed to provide a satisfactory response to the clarification sought under party statute provisions.

The party had already taken disciplinary action on August 15, barring Gangaram from holding responsibilities in both the central committee and the parliamentary party. Following this, Shrestha assumed the role of parliamentary leader as per the party’s decision.

Citing Clause 25 of the Political Parties Act, 2016, she has also requested the Parliament Secretariat to update the official record with the new leadership details.
