Zaap EV announces official launch in Kathmandu

KATHMANDU: Kathmandu has taken a significant step toward sustainable urban mobility with the official launch of Zaap EV, Nepal’s first women-focused and sustainability-driven electric two-wheeler rental service.

Starting today, users can visit Zaap EV’s official website to register for membership, complete KYC verification, and gain early access to the service. Full operations are scheduled to begin in mid-September, offering a practical, eco-friendly, and affordable alternative for daily commuters, gig workers, and students.

Speaking at the launch event, Dr. Sudeep Rauniar, Managing Director of Zaap EV, shared his vision: “Zaap EV is more than just a rental service — its about bridging the mobility gap for gig workers, students, and those who need affordable transport. Our goal is to build a model that is both environmentally sustainable and economically empowering.”

Anukool Bhatnagar, Senior Adviser to Zaap EV, highlighted the growing need for green solutions in urban transport:

“The demand for affordable and eco-friendly ride options is increasing daily. Zaap EV has the potential to play a foundational role in shaping Kathmandu’s green mobility future.”

With a fleet of electric scooters, a rapidly expanding battery-swapping network, and a strong commitment to accessibility and inclusivity, Zaap EV aims to set a new benchmark for clean, cost-effective, and inclusive transportation in Nepal.
