PALPA: Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Paudel has likened the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) to a “raging flood” that appears powerful for a moment but soon disappears.
Speaking at a press conference organized by the Federation of Nepali Journalists, Palpa chapter, in Tansen on Sunday, Poudel criticized the RSP’s political approach, calling it unsustainable.
“A raging flood may seem forceful during the rainy season, but it dries up before the season ends. Then, even ants begin to move,” he said. “The RSP will also fade away. Politics rooted in mere opposition and temporary excitement does not endure.”
Targeting monarchist groups, Paudel claimed that regressive forces have been pushed aside and have no future in Nepal.
“Those who champion regressive agendas will never rise again. They are wasting their time,” he stated.
Paudel also defended the current coalition government between the Nepali Congress and CPN-UML, saying it was formed with the national interest at its core.
“We have formed a government with the two major parties to ensure a secure future for the country. This government will shape that future,” he said. “There is no question of this government collapsing. We never even imagined such a scenario.”
He emphasized that the government is functioning based on consensus, and critics who predicted its fall have now gone silent after witnessing its unity and cooperation.
“The days of seeking instability are over. When the Maoist Centre attempted to lead the country toward instability, the Nepali Congress and UML together stopped it,” he added.
Poudel also criticized parties that lack vision, agenda, and a clear direction, accusing them of trying to destabilize the nation.
Regarding local development, he stated that the government has prioritized Palpa in the budget allocation.
“We have directed attention toward the development of Palpa. The budget has been allocated accordingly,” he said.
