KATHMANDU: Kathmandu Metropolitan City has initiated steps to revoke licenses of institutional schools that are registered but not operational.
The local government said it has prepared to cancel licenses after thorough monitoring and evaluation. Deputy Mayor Sunita Dangol noted that some alternative schools, including Mahila Jyoti and James Namuna, have received permission to relocate to new premises.
Additionally, 25 schools are currently undergoing name changes as per the metropolis’s directives.
To strengthen community schools, the city has formed a taskforce led by Dr. Suraj Raj Kafley. The team will submit a report with recommendations on school operational standards, social and resource mapping, physical infrastructure, education quality, and long-term educational planning.
