PM Oli gears up for Cabinet reshuffle

Mulling to sack at least six ministers

KATHMANDU: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has geared up to reshuffle Cabinet by sacking at least six ministers.

PM Oli, who is also the Chairman of the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP), has informed another Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal that he is mulling a Cabinet reshuffle, sources have said.

During a meeting held at Baluwatar on Monday morning, Oli had read aloud the names of eight ministers he is pondering to sack. But, PM Oli agreed to sack only six ministers and change portfolios of two others after Chairman Dahal asked him to reconsider.

According to a source, PM Oli had read aloud the names of Matrika Yadav, Lalbabu Pandit, Thammaya Thapa Magar, Bina Magar, Yuvaraj Khatiwada, Chakrapani Khanal, Shakti Basnet and Raghubir Mahaseth.

Meanwhile, an informal meeting of the party senior leaders is  being held to discuss contemporary politics, party internal politics, among other issues.

PM Oli is leaving for Azerbaijan on October 24 to attend the 18th Summit of the Heads of State and Government of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM).

Sources at Baluwatar told Khabarhub that PM is mulling in for a Cabinet reshuffle before he departs for the summit.
