Koshi Provincial Assembly passes Pension Fund Bill

BIRATNAGAR: The Koshi Provincial Assembly has unanimously passed the “Bill to Make Arrangements Regarding the Establishment and Operation of the Contributory Pension Fund”.

The bill was presented by Minister for Economic Affairs and Planning of the Koshi Provincial Government, Ram Bahadur Magar, and was approved without opposition after Speaker Ambar Bahadur Bista tabled it for decision.

Two amendment proposals were submitted by Provincial Assembly members Ramesh Kumar Basnet and Shobha Chemjong. Basnet’s amendment was rejected, while Chemjong later withdrew hers.

Also during the session, the “Bill to Make Arrangements Regarding the Language of Government Work in Koshi Province” was introduced.

The proposal was submitted by Minister for Social Development Panchkarna Rai, who stated that although the Language Commission had recommended 14 official languages for the province, only Limbu and Maithili would currently be implemented for administrative use, citing financial constraints.

During the special time of the meeting, Nirmala Limbu, leader of the Janata Samajwadi Party’s parliamentary party in the Koshi Provincial Assembly, delivered her speech in the Limbu language.
