Armed Police Force Rautahat seizes goods worth Rs 57.4 million

RAUTAHAT: The Armed Police Force (APF) in Rautahat, deployed for border security, seized goods worth Rs 57.4 million in the last fiscal year 2024/25.

APF Rautahat Chief and Superintendent of Police Santosh Kumar Basnet said seizures of customs-evading goods increased significantly last year due to heightened APF activity.

“In the last fiscal year alone, we confiscated vehicles ranging from Scorpios to bicycles worth Rs 23.147 million,” Basnet said. “We also seized illegal groceries, cosmetics, clothes, and motor parts valued at Rs 24.845 million.” One Scorpio and one Safari vehicle were among those confiscated.

The APF also seized 180 motorcycles, along with one Bolero, one Magic, and an autorickshaw, all handed over to the Gaur Customs Office. Cash seizures included Rs 4,817,110 in Nepali currency and IRs 949,449, both without disclosed sources.

Other confiscations included 693 cubic feet of timber handed over to the Division Forest Office, 406 cartons of liquor worth Rs 551,825, 850 kg of fish, 1,249 kg of broiler chicken, and 16 cows, buffaloes, and goats. Firecrackers worth Rs 43,056 were also seized.

Superintendent Basnet said the APF in Rautahat operates through eight security base camps and five border outposts along the southern frontier.
