Eleven more malnutrition deaths reported in Gaza amid rising conflict

GAZA: The Hamas-run health ministry in Gaza has reported 11 additional deaths caused by malnutrition, bringing the total number of such fatalities to 212, including 98 children.

Over the past 24 hours, Israeli military actions have resulted in at least 38 deaths and 491 injuries, the ministry added, according to BBC.

The death toll continues to climb amid reports of a deadline set for October 7, by which residents of Gaza City are being urged to evacuate, following an Israeli plan to take control of the area.

This controversial plan, approved by Israel’s security cabinet and outlined on Friday, includes five key points aimed at ending the conflict, one of which involves gaining security control over the territory.

Israeli media reports indicate the initial phase of the plan focuses on taking full control of Gaza City and relocating approximately one million residents to the southern part of Gaza.

The proposal has drawn criticism from international leaders and strong opposition within Israel, including from military officials and families of hostages held in Gaza, who fear for their loved ones’ safety.

Israel has dismissed the criticism, with Defence Minister Israel Katz stating that such condemnation will not weaken their determination. Meanwhile, the US response has been more restrained, with former President Donald Trump earlier suggesting that the decision to occupy Gaza fully is largely Israel’s prerogative.
