Gulmi’s Ridi–Wami Taksar road blocked

GULMI: The Ridi–Wami Taksar road in Gulmi district has been completely blocked due to continuous rainfall.

The road became impassable this morning after the Dahare River in Satyawati Rural Municipality-6 flooded, according to Ganga Bahadur Saru, Information Officer at the District Police Office.

The flood, along with deposited mud and debris, obstructed the road section in Dahare, halting all vehicular movement from the area towards Burtiwang in Baglung via Ridi.

A police team was deployed from Johang Khaireni to help clear the road, but ongoing rain has hampered the effort, said Pranau Saru. Notably, the river had swept away a car just three days ago.

Similarly, the Ridi–Khanjyang road has also been blocked due to a dry landslide. A landslide in Sankhar, Rurukshetra Rural Municipality-1, has completely obstructed the road section.

Due to the rainfall, water levels in the Kaligandaki and Badigad rivers have also risen significantly.

The District Administration Office has urged residents in riverside and landslide-prone areas to remain alert and move to safer locations. The District Disaster Management Committee has identified over 200 locations in Gulmi as high-risk zones for floods and landslides.
