NC chief whip criticizes opposition over visit visa allegations

KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress (NC) Chief Whip Shyam Kumar Ghimire has strongly criticized opposition parties Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) and Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) for their repeated attacks in parliament over the visit visa issue.

Speaking at Monday’s meeting of the House of Representatives, Ghimire accused the two parties of misleading the public with false propaganda and misusing the House to further their political agenda.

“Standing in parliament and constantly alleging that ‘visit visas’ are being used for human trafficking—what exactly are you trying to say?” Ghimire questioned. “Is a visit visa the same as human trafficking? Who here has never traveled on a visit visa? Which MP has not? What are you implying?”

He alleged that RSP and RPP were engaging in “Goebbels-style” falsehoods to sow confusion among the people. “This practice of spreading lies in the style of Goebbels and misusing parliament in the name of visit visas must stop,” he said.

Ghimire stressed that the NC takes strong exception to such conduct. “If this practice is not ended, parliament will lose both its dignity and its significance,” he warned.
