Madhav Nepal calls corruption case against him ‘political vendetta’

BIRATNAGAR: Chair of CPN (Unified Socialist) and former Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal has dismissed the corruption case filed against him as nothing more than political retaliation.

Speaking to journalists at Biratnagar Airport on Friday morning, Nepal said the allegations were baseless.

“This is not a corruption case at all. It was a unanimous Cabinet decision, and not a single rupee of the government was lost,” he said. “Everyone knows this is political prejudice and vendetta. I have never misused a single paisa in my life.”

Nepal also clarified that there are no discussions underway for immediate unification with the CPN (Maoist Centre), noting instead that talks were limited to cooperation.

“There is no talk of merger with the Maoists right now. The discussions are focused on strengthening trust and continuing the Socialist Front through collaboration,” he added.

Criticizing Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, Nepal said the country is suffering because of what he called Oli’s arrogance and misguided policies.

“This government has failed on all fronts. The nation is in pain due to one person—Oli’s ego, arrogance, and wrong policies. Until Oli is removed, the country cannot be freed,” he remarked.

Nepal further argued that government change is unlikely as long as Oli and Nepali Congress president Sher Bahadur Deuba continue to cooperate. He accused Oli of turning the CPN-UML into a spectacle and undermining the communist movement.

“Just watch the drama inside UML. Oli is set on destroying the communist movement. He could inflict serious damage on the entire nation,” Nepal said.
