NC Bagmati to vote on new parliamentary leader today

HETAUDA: The Nepali Congress Parliamentary Party in Bagmati Province is set to elect a new leader on Wednesday following the ouster of Bahadur Singh Lama, who lost a no-confidence vote earlier this week.

According to Harisharan Shrestha, coordinator of the party’s election committee, the process will begin with the publication of the voter list, which will remain open for claims and objections, along with candidate nominations, until 12 PM Wednesday.

The final list of candidates will be published at 1 PM, followed by voting from 2 PM to 3 PM at the Congress provincial party office in Hetauda. Vote counting will begin immediately after polling closes, and the results will be announced the same day.

Lama lost his position as party leader after a no-confidence motion registered last Friday was put to vote on Tuesday. He received only 15 votes in support, while 22 provincial lawmakers voted against him.
