Heavy rain likely in parts of Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki



KATHMANDU: The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology’s Weather Forecasting Division has reported that monsoon winds are currently affecting Nepal.

The monsoon’s low-pressure trough is situated near its average position in the west and slightly north of the average location in the east.

At present, the country is generally cloudy. Light rain is falling in some areas of Koshi, Bagmati, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim provinces, with isolated showers in other provinces.

This afternoon, cloudy conditions are expected to continue nationwide. Moderate rain accompanied by thunder and lightning is likely in many hilly areas, including parts of Koshi, Bagmati, and Lumbini provinces, as well as some locations in the Terai region.

There is also a chance of heavy rain in one or two places in the hilly regions of Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces.

Tonight, the hilly areas of Lumbini province will remain mostly cloudy, while the Terai region will be partly cloudy. Moderate rainfall with thunder and lightning may occur in some hilly areas of Lumbini province and isolated places in the Terai.

The Division has advised people to take necessary precautions due to the possibility of heavy rainfall in certain hilly areas of these provinces.
