MYAGDI: A total of 400 households in Malika Rural Municipality–3 of Myagdi have gained access to drinking water after the successful completion of three local water supply projects.
With support from Nepal Newa, cooperation from an external organization, and voluntary labor contributions from locals, water taps have been installed in individual homes—replacing the previous reliance on public taps.
According to Ward Chairman Moti Prasad Budha, 225 households in Dadagaun, Kiteni, Aul, Saragdi, and Syagalung, 122 in Patle, and 53 in Lumpipar have benefited from the projects.
The three drinking water projects, built at a total cost of Rs 21.4 million, were jointly inaugurated on Sunday by Malika Rural Municipality Chairman Beg Prasad Garbuja.
Bal Bahadur Roka, a local resident of Patle, shared that household chores have become easier and more efficient with direct access to water, saving both time and effort.
Each household contributed 50 to 60 days of labor for the construction. Dhan Bahadur Roka, secretary of the Patle Simul Drinking Water, Sanitation and Hygiene Consumers’ Association, said meters have been installed for efficient water use, and a concrete drying rack has also been built to maintain cleanliness around the taps.
