We are committed to transforming frustrations into hope: President Paudel

KATHMANDU: President Ram Chandra Paudel has emphasized that the essence of the federal democratic republic lies in responding to the people’s voices, addressing their aspirations, and building a prosperous nation rooted in good governance and economic development.

Speaking at a program organized in Kathmandu to mark the 251st birth anniversary of national luminary Bhimsen Thapa, President Paudel stated, “Within this system, we can fulfill the responsibilities entrusted to us by our ancestors and history.” He called on all stakeholders to stay focused on this shared national goal.

Reflecting on Nepal’s complex historical journey, President Paudel noted, “Our past has seen difficult and undesirable moments, but we are now committed to creating an inclusive, open, and progressive society. There is no reason to lose hope.”

He paid tribute to the sacrifices, dedication, and visionary leadership that laid the foundation for the present, describing Bheemsen Thapa as a towering statesman in Nepal’s history who dedicated his life to safeguarding national sovereignty, territorial integrity, and independence.

The President also underscored Thapa’s resistance to colonial imperialism and his efforts to uphold national dignity.

“Nepal’s independence remained intact because of Bhimsen Thapa’s patriotism, administrative capability, and far-sighted political vision,” he said.

President Paudel highlighted Thapa’s wide-ranging contributions in the areas of economic development, administration, military reform, and social change, stating that his legacy continues to inspire and serve the national interest. “These achievements secure Bhimsen Thapa an enduring place of honor in Nepal’s history,” he added.

On the occasion, President Paudel presented this year’s prestigious Bhimsen Thapa Award to veteran diplomat Dr. Bhekh Bahadur Thapa.
