KATHMANDU: A group of 47 Nepali women attempting to travel to Kuwait on visit visas has been returned to Nepal from Indira Gandhi International Airport in New Delhi, India.
The women, who were traveling without a No Objection Certificate (NOC), were stopped in coordination with the Nepali Embassy in Delhi and transported to Rupandehi by land last night.
According to Rupandehi Chief District Officer (CDO) Basudev Ghimire, the women were taken into custody by a team from the Nepali Embassy in Delhi, including Senior Superintendent of Police Prakash Malla.
They were brought to Nepal via the Sunauli border crossing and handed over to the district administration. The group is now being brought to Kathmandu under police escort.
Meanwhile, Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak has ordered a thorough investigation into the incident. The Ministry of Home Affairs said the minister has directed the Human Trafficking Bureau to carry out all necessary inquiries and bring those involved in illegal foreign employment to justice.
Minister Lekhak emphasized the need for a detailed investigation into the use of visit visas for undocumented foreign employment and possible human trafficking.
