Petroleum products worth Rs 19.94 billion imported via Kakarbhitta in last fiscal year



BHADRAPUR: Petroleum products worth Rs 19.94 billion were imported through the eastern border customs point of Kakarbhitta during the fiscal year 2024/25.

The imports included petrol, diesel, liquefied petroleum (LP) gas, aviation turbine fuel (ATF), and kerosene.

According to Ishwor Kumar Humagain, Information Officer and Customs Officer at Mechi Customs Office, imports declined by Rs 908.2 million (4.40 percent) compared to the previous fiscal year 2080/81.

Despite the drop in import volume, revenue collection from petroleum imports increased by Rs 596.91 million, or 6.50 percent, he added.

As per the office’s data, the government collected revenue totaling Rs 9.71 billion from petroleum imports during the review period.

A total of 103,064 kiloliters of petrol worth Rs 8.93 billion and 77,424 kiloliters of diesel worth Rs 7.33 billion were imported. Likewise, 25,568 metric tons of LP gas worth Rs 2.82 billion, 7,292 kiloliters of ATF worth Rs 660.4 million, and 2,852 kiloliters of kerosene worth Rs 250.4 million were also brought in through the Kakarbhitta point.
