PM Oli meets CIDCA Chief

KATHMANDU: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli met with a delegation from China’s International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA) led by its Chair Chen Xiaodong on Tuesday at the Prime Minister’s official residence in Baluwatar.

During the meeting, both sides discussed the long-standing Nepal–China bilateral relationship, recent agreements signed on Monday at the Ministry of Finance, and the implementation status of previous development cooperation commitments made during high-level visits between the two nations.

Prime Minister Oli reiterated Nepal’s firm commitment to the One-China Policy and expressed gratitude to the Chinese side for prioritizing the reconstruction of infrastructure at the Rasuwagadhi border point, which was damaged during a recent flash flood. He also noted that the Nepalese side is providing the necessary support to expedite the reconstruction.

Oli further highlighted the importance of turning Nepal’s geographical status from landlocked to land-linked through enhanced connectivity with China, including operationalizing key border points like Kimathanka. He also called for the smooth implementation of projects under the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) framework.

The meeting was attended by Chief Advisor to the Prime Minister Bishnu Rimal, Economic Development Advisor Dr. Yuba Raj Khatiwada, Chinese Ambassador to Nepal Chen Song, and senior officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Earlier on Monday, the CIDCA delegation held discussions with Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Bishnu Paudel regarding ongoing and future development cooperation. On the same occasion, both sides signed four memoranda of understanding related to upcoming projects supported by China.
