Rasuwa flood: Insurance claims reach Rs 289.2 million



KATHMANDU: The initial insurance claims filed in response to the devastating flood in Lhendekhola, Rasuwa, have reached a total of Rs 289.2 million.

According to the Nepal Insurance Authority, seven different insurance companies have received a total of 63 claims related to the flood damage.

Shikhar Insurance Company has received 10 claims amounting to Rs 161.1 million, the highest among all. NECO Insurance has received three claims worth Rs 52 million, while Sagarmatha Lumbini Insurance has received seven claims totaling Rs 34.1 million.

Nepal Insurance Company has received 12 claims valued at Rs 12.2 million. Sanima GIC Insurance has six claims worth Rs 7.7 million, and IGI Prudential has received nine claims totaling Rs 7.5 million.

In addition, United Ajod Insurance has received three claims amounting to Rs 6.8 million. NLG Insurance has six claims worth Rs 4.7 million, and Siddhartha Premier Insurance has received seven claims totaling Rs 3.1 million.

The flood in Lhendekhola caused widespread destruction, sweeping away the Miteri Bridge that connects Nepal and China, the under-construction dry port at the border, the customs office, and several vehicles parked in the area. Significant infrastructure, including the Rasuwagadhi Hydropower Project, also sustained damage in the disaster.
