First hernia surgery performed at Baitadi District Hospital

BAITADI: For the first time, hernia surgery has been successfully performed at the District Hospital in Baitadi. Two men, aged 58 and 68, underwent successful hernia operations on Saturday.

According to Harish Prasad Pant, Information Officer at the hospital, the surgeries became possible following the arrival of MDGP Dr. Pawin Upadhyay. Previously, the hospital had been unable to offer hernia surgery due to a lack of specialist doctors.

Another hernia surgery is scheduled for a 40-year-old man today. The hospital’s acting Medical Superintendent, Dr. Sushil BK, said the first surgeries were carried out in coordination with specialist doctors from both Baitadi and Dadeldhura Hospitals.

Pant added that Dadeldhura Hospital supports Baitadi by sending doctors once a week and providing surgical materials that are otherwise unavailable locally. This collaboration has made it easier to deliver specialist medical services in the district.
