28 arrested in Nepal ahead of visit by Chinese President



KATHMANDU: Police have rounded up 28 alleged protesters planning to stage a protest during Nepal visit by Chinese President Xi Jinping.

They were arrested from different places of Kathmandu Valley from Thursday afternoon till Saturday noon.

Metropolitan Police Range, Kathmandu said that they were arrested from Tinkune, Bijulibazaar and Thapathali of the Capital City. Among them, four were arrested on Saturday.

Chinese President Xi is arriving on a two-day state visit to Nepal on Saturday evening. He is scheduled to land at Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) between 4 to 5 pm.

Security has been beefed up in Kathmandu Valley ahead of the high-level visit from China after a hiatus of 23 years.
