33 Film Development Board services now available online

KATHMANDU: The Film Development Board has made 33 of its services available online. Announced on the occasion of the board’s 25th anniversary, the services now accessible digitally include film registration, screening recommendations, hall licensing, and approvals for organizing film festivals—eliminating the need for physical visits to the office.

The Board has also launched a mobile application called Box Office 2 Cinepa. With this new system, office visits are no longer required, and the film business has become more transparent, said Board Chairperson Dinesh DC.

“We’ve connected 166 film halls across Nepal to the Box Office app. This enhances transparency and will help foster a friendlier and more cooperative relationship among producers, distributors, and exhibitors,” DC said.

“Producers will now be able to access real-time ticket sales data. With the availability of online services, general tasks can be completed from anywhere without needing to visit the board’s office.”

He added that the Board’s planned initiatives since his appointment are nearing completion and pledged to continue addressing issues in the film sector through further development and the expansion of information and communication technology.

Chairperson DC also shared that from the upcoming fiscal year, the board plans to collaborate with film-related organizations on capacity building and skill-based programs.
