Singers Samikshya Adhikari and Eleena Chauhan meet Home Minister

KATHMANDU: Singers Samikshya Adhikari and Eleena Chauhan, who have recently been facing verbal abuse and harassment on social media, met with Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak on Tuesday to raise concerns about their situation.

The two singers visited the Ministry of Home Affairs and shared details of the cyber harassment they’ve been enduring.

They highlighted the emotional and reputational impact of the abuse and urged the government to take action against those responsible.

Following the meeting, Elina Chauhan posted a statement on social media saying, “I’ve come this far with the love and support of my well-wishers. But we can’t expect everyone to always think positively. When abuse and character assassination cross into our personal lives, it becomes unbearable.”

She further clarified that those attacking her online are not real fans, but individuals intent on hurting her.

“To protect my dignity, I’ve been compelled to take legal steps — not out of hatred or revenge, but to exercise my right to defend my identity,” she added, expressing gratitude to Home Minister Lekhak for his support.

On Monday, Chauhan also filed a formal complaint at the Cyber Bureau of Nepal Police in Bhotahity, naming four individuals who allegedly posted abusive content. She has called for swift legal action against them.

Both singers urged the Home Minister to take firm steps to punish those who engage in obscene and defamatory posts on social media.
