Four parliamentary committees meeting today



KATHMANDU: Four different committees under the Federal Parliament are scheduled to convene their meetings today at Singha Durbar.

These include the Parliamentary Hearing Committee (Joint), the Legislation Management Committee, the Agriculture, Cooperatives and Natural Resources Committee, and the Education, Health and Information Technology Committee.

The Legislation Management Committee will meet at 9 AM. The agenda includes a clause-wise discussion on the Customs Bill, 2023, which is expected to address key updates in Nepal’s customs regulations.

Similarly, the Parliamentary Hearing Committee is set to meet at 11 AM at the meeting hall of the Law, Justice, and Human Rights Committee. According to officials, the committee will open and review complaints received against the judges proposed for appointment to the Supreme Court. A work plan will also be distributed to committee members during the meeting.

At 11:30 AM, the Agriculture, Cooperatives and Natural Resources Committee will meet to discuss measures for minimizing loss of life and property due to monsoon-related disasters in Nepal.

The meeting will involve discussions with the Ministry of Home Affairs, Ministry of Land Management, Cooperatives and Poverty Alleviation, heads of all security agencies, and officials from the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority (NDRRMA), among other stakeholders.

Finally, the Education, Health and Information Technology Committee will convene at 1 PM. The meeting will focus on deliberating the report submitted by the subcommittee on the School Education Bill, which aims to reform and strengthen the school education system in Nepal.
