Missing Ramechhap doctor found safe in Balaju after posting farewell note on Facebook

KATHMANDU: Dr. Keshav Shrestha, acting medical superintendent of Ramechhap District Hospital, who went missing after posting an emotional “goodbye” message on Facebook, has been found safe in Balaju, Kathmandu.

A team from the Kathmandu District Police Office located Dr. Shrestha and confirmed that he is in good condition.

“We have found him safe in Balaju and brought him to the police office,” said SP Apil Raj Bohora, spokesperson for Kathmandu police. “We will soon hand him over to his wife.”

Dr. Shrestha had gone out of contact since Monday morning, triggering concern among his colleagues and family. His farewell note, posted under the title “Goodbye,” indicated he was under extreme mental distress.

In the lengthy status, Dr. Shrestha expressed feelings of helplessness caused by what he described as political interference, psychological pressure, and the actions of vengeful, anti-system elements. He wrote that these factors had pushed him to a breaking point, emotionally and mentally.

His disappearance sparked worry across the medical community and among health workers in the district. Now found safe, authorities are expected to hand him over to his family and offer the necessary psychological support.
