RPP continues parliament boycott over visit visa scam

KATHMANDU: The Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) continued its boycott of the House of Representatives on Monday, walking out of the session in protest against the government’s handling of the controversial visit visa issue.

RPP lawmakers obstructed the meeting alongside the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) as soon as the session began. However, Speaker Dev Raj Ghimire proceeded with the agenda despite the ongoing protest, prompting RPP members to exit the chamber shortly afterward.

The party had also staged a similar walkout on Sunday and declared that their lawmakers would not accept parliamentary allowances during the boycott period.

Both RPP and RSP have been demanding an investigation into Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak’s role in the visit visa scandal. They claim the issue involves serious misuse of state mechanisms, potentially enabling organized human trafficking under the guise of visa approvals.
