Santosh Pariyar slams ‘use of force’ to push House proceedings amid visa scam

KATHMANDU: Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) Chief Whip Santosh Pariyar strongly objected to what he called the use of force to continue House proceedings without addressing his party’s demands related to the controversial visit visa case.

Speaking during Monday’s session of the House of Representatives, Pariyar criticized Speaker Dev Raj Ghimire for moving ahead with the meeting despite loud protests from opposition lawmakers.

“The visit visa issue involves multiple layers of the state machinery — including the Home Administration and the Department of Immigration,” Pariyar said. “Yet, when we demand accountability, the House proceeds by overpowering our voices. This is not acceptable.”

He highlighted that serious concerns of human trafficking conducted under the guise of visit visas have long been raised, but authorities have failed to respond meaningfully.

“Is this state for the people or just for the rulers?” he questioned. “When state structures themselves are involved in systematic trafficking of our own citizens, who will hold them accountable? Laws, agencies, and manipulative tactics are being used to exploit people — and still there’s no response from those in power.”
