Monsoon winds bring rain to eastern and central Nepal, including Kathmandu



KATHMANDU: The Weather Forecasting Division of the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has stated that monsoon winds are currently active in parts of Koshi, Madhes, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces, as well as in a small area of eastern Lumbini province.

Additionally, westerly and local winds are partially affecting the western region of the country.

According to the Division, the weather is presently partly to generally cloudy over Koshi Province and the hilly areas, while other regions remain mostly clear to partly cloudy.

Light to moderate rainfall is occurring in a few areas of Koshi and Bagmati provinces, including rainfall in the Kathmandu Valley.

This afternoon, skies across the country are expected to remain partly to generally cloudy. Light to moderate rain accompanied by lightning is likely in some areas of Koshi, Madhes, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces, as well as isolated areas elsewhere. One or two locations in Koshi province may experience heavy rainfall.

Tonight, the weather will continue to be partly to generally cloudy nationwide. Light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning is possible in various parts of all provinces.

Heavy to very heavy rainfall is also likely at one or two locations in Koshi, Madhes, Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini, and Sudurpaschim provinces.
