The main opposition parties have demanded a formal commitment to initiate a probe against the Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak, stating they would allow parliamentary proceedings to resume if such a commitment is made.

In response, the chief whips of Nepali Congress and CPN-UML have agreed to issue a written pledge to form the committee.

A high-level meeting was held at the Parliament building in New Baneshwor, attended by Maoist Center Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’, Deputy General Secretary Barshaman Pun, Nepali Congress Vice President Purna Bahadur Khadka, Nepali Congress Chief Whip Shyam Ghimire, and UML Chief Whip Mahesh Bartaula.

According to sources, the written commitment from the Nepali Congress and UML whips was conveyed during the discussion.
