Royal throne of King Srinivas Malla displayed at Patan Durbar Square for public viewing

LALITPUR: The historic royal throne of King Srinivas Malla has been put on display for public viewing at the Krishna Temple premises in Patan Durbar Square.

This traditional event takes place every year on the occasion of Jya Punhi, during which the throne is brought out from the Patan Museum in Mangalbazaar and placed in front of the Krishna Temple.

On this day, 32 devotional hymns composed by King Siddhi Narsingh Malla are also showcased — a unique cultural practice observed only once a year.

These hymns are performed in a collective singing tradition, continuing a centuries-old legacy of the Malla era.
