Senior writer Ganesh Rasik passes away



KATHMANDU: Noted writer, lyricist, and singer Ganesh Rasik passed away in Kathmandu on Saturday morning after a prolonged battle with health complications. He was 78.

Rasik, who had been suffering from prostate cancer, died at Nepal Cancer Hospital in Lalitpur, according to family members.

His body has been kept at Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital in Maharajgunj. The final rites will be performed after his daughter, who is currently in the UK, returns to Nepal on Monday.

Originally from Bhojpur, Rasik spent much of his literary and professional life in Ilam. He had also traveled to India for cancer treatment, but after being informed that his condition had entered its final stage, he returned to Nepal. Though his health briefly showed signs of improvement, he ultimately succumbed to the illness.

Rasik was a prolific writer whose notable story collections include Kshitijlai Chun Khodda (2024 BS), Euta Sarangi Chun Khodda (2027 BS), and Bilaya Gayeka Geet (2058 BS). His published works also span poetry and song collections such as Rasikka Geetharu (2045 BS) and Swadhinatako Pidha (2068 BS), novels like Akashgangako Otamuni (2048 BS) and Dashgajama Udber Hekhara (2063 BS), and memoirs including Jab Sisnuharu Tekdai Hiden (2055 BS) and Perungo Edition (2073 BS).
