Govt allocates Rs 148 Billion for fiscal equalization grants



KATHMANDU: The government has allocated Rs 148 billion for fiscal equalization grants in the upcoming fiscal year 2025/26, Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Paudel announced during the presentation of the national budget at the Federal Parliament on Thursday.

Of the total amount, Rs 60.66 billion will be transferred to provincial governments and Rs 88.97 billion to local governments under fiscal equalization.

In addition, the government has earmarked Rs 30.35 billion in conditional grants for provinces and Rs 211.46 billion for local governments.

For infrastructure project programs, Rs 3.28 billion has been allocated for provinces and Rs 10.06 billion for local governments.

Minister Paudel also announced that Rs 3.27 billion has been allocated to provincial governments and Rs 9.78 billion to local levels under special grants.
