KATHMANDU: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and Chairman of CPN-UML lashed out at those involved in cooperative scams, accusing them of unjustly blaming the CPN-UML.
PM Oli alleged that individuals who themselves misused cooperative funds are now pretending to be innocent and lecturing others about justice and integrity.
“They shout slogans, refuse to return what they owe, and still cry the loudest about corruption — it’s shameless,” he said.
He claimed that the campaign to link the UML with the cooperative fraud is misleading and politically motivated. “There’s an organized attempt to create the impression that the UML is behind the cooperative scandals,” Oli stated.
He also took a jab at Maoist Centre Chair Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’, saying that even those implicated in corruption now speak loudly against it.
“Just listen to Prachanda — even those with questionable records are making dramatic speeches about fighting corruption,” Oli remarked.
Oli further compared the Maoists’ recent public outreach to the UML’s Mechi–Mahakali campaign, saying the Maoists failed to draw similar public support. “While our campaign attracted huge crowds, theirs lacked that level of energy and backing,” he said.
Mocking the double standards of those accused in the cooperative controversy, Oli pointed out that while they talk about delivering justice to victims, they have yet to return the stolen money.
