Relief materials delivered to flood and landslide victims in Til village after seven days



KATHMANDU: Relief materials have been delivered today to Til village, located in ward no. 6 of the northern Namkha Rural Municipality in the district. The relief was provided seven days after the flood and landslide that occurred on the night of May 15.

A team from Namkha Rural Municipality, the Federation of Industry and Commerce, and an organization called Aadhar Nepal reached Til village with relief supplies for 19 families at risk due to the landslide.

Namkha Rural Municipality Chairperson Prem Bahadur Lama also visited Til village along with the relief team.

Chief District Officer (CDO) Narayan Pandey stated that the primary needs of the flood and landslide victims were food, shelter, and clothing.

Essential items delivered this morning included 10 quintals of rice, 100 liters of oil, 2 quintals of salt, 2 quintals of sugar, 30 quintals of flour, 1 quintal each of beaten rice and puffed rice, tea, potato seeds, vegetable seeds, soap, medicine, and cement.

Additionally, the Nepal Red Cross Society’s district branch has also dispatched relief supplies today. Branch Chairperson Ganesh Mahat headed towards the area with blankets, tarpaulins, and mattresses. Similarly, the Drinking Water, Irrigation, and Energy Development Office in Humla has provided 1,800 meters of water pipes.

Currently, 33 individuals from the 19 affected households in Til village are living under tarpaulins. The relief materials were transported by vehicle as far as Halji village, and from there, they were carried to Til village by porters, horses, and mules.
