Two arrested for fraud over foreign employment in Poland and Bulgaria



KATHMANDU: Two individuals have been arrested by police on charges of fraudulently collecting money by luring victims with promises of high-paying jobs in Poland and Bulgaria.

The arrested have been identified as 35-year-old Hikmat Kumar Thapa, originally from Bhagwatimai Rural Municipality–1, Dailekh, currently residing in Tokha Municipality–5, Kathmandu; and 30-year-old Jikrullah Miya, originally from Adarsh Kotwal Rural Municipality–8, Bara, currently residing in Kathmandu Metropolitan City–29.

According to complaints filed by the victims, Hikmat took Rs 210,000 from one person promising foreign employment in Poland, while Jikrullah took Rs 900,000 from another person with the promise of a job in Bulgaria. Both suspects later became unreachable.

Based on these complaints, a team from the Kathmandu Valley Crime Investigation Office, Teku, arrested Hikmat from Tokha Municipality–5 and Jikrullah from Lalitpur Metropolitan City–2.

They have been sent to the Department of Foreign Employment, Tahachal, Kathmandu for further investigation and legal action.
