Nepali women qualify for Super Three in ICC T20 World Cup Asia qualifiers

KATHMANDU: The Nepali women’s cricket team has successfully advanced to the Super Three stage of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Asia qualifiers.

Following the cancellation of the Hong Kong vs. Bahrain match due to rain on Friday, Nepal and Hong Kong were tied with 5 points each. However, Nepal moved forward based on having more wins in the group stage.

Nepal earned 5 points from 4 matches, recording 2 wins, 1 loss, and 1 draw, while Hong Kong had 5 points from 4 matches with 1 win and 3 draws.

Had Hong Kong won the canceled match, they would have topped the group with 6 points, but their tally remained limited to 1 win.

The top teams from the three groups in this 9-team tournament advance to the Super Three, where they face each other. The top two teams from the Super Three will then qualify for the World Cup Global qualifiers.

Nepal is now set to compete against strong teams such as the UAE and Thailand in the Super Three round.
