World Cup Asia Qualifier: Nepal vs Hong Kong match cancelled due to rain

KATHMANDU: The ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Asia Qualifier match between Nepal and Hong Kong, scheduled for today in Thailand, has been cancelled due to a wet outfield caused by heavy rainfall.

As a result, both teams have been awarded one point each. Nepal will play its second match against Bahrain on May 12.

The qualifier features nine teams: Thailand, Nepal, Bhutan, Kuwait, Qatar, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Bahrain, and the UAE. They are divided into three groups. Group A includes Thailand, Bhutan, and Kuwait; Group B consists of UAE, Malaysia, and Qatar; and Group C features Nepal, Hong Kong, and Bahrain.

The top team from each group will advance to the Super Three round. From there, the two best-performing teams will secure spots in the global qualifier for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup.
