Westerly and moist winds likely to bring rain today



KATHMANDU: The Weather Forecasting Division of the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has said that the country is currently under the influence of westerly and local winds, along with a partial impact from moisture-laden air entering from the Bay of Bengal and the Arabian Sea.

According to the Division, weather conditions remain partly to generally cloudy across the country. Light to moderate rainfall is occurring at several locations in Koshi and Madhesh provinces.

Cloudy conditions are expected to persist this afternoon, with the possibility of light to moderate rain accompanied by thunder and lightning in some hilly areas, especially in Koshi Province, and at isolated locations elsewhere in the country. Light rain and snowfall are also likely in some mountainous regions.

Tonight, the weather will remain partly to generally cloudy in the hilly areas, while other regions will experience mainly clear to partly cloudy skies.

There is a chance of light rain with thunder and lightning at isolated spots in the hilly areas of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini, and Karnali provinces. Light rain and snowfall are also likely at a few locations in the mountainous areas of Koshi, Gandaki, and Karnali.

The Division has advised the public to take necessary precautions, as rain, wind, and snowfall may impact daily life, agriculture, health, as well as road and air transportation.
