NC lawmaker Gurung demands probe into property of political leaders and employees

KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress (NC) lawmaker Dhanaraj Gurung has called for the formation of a high-level committee to investigate the property details of political leaders and government employees who have held positions since 2046 BS (1990).

Speaking during the discussion on the government’s new policies and programs for the fiscal year 2082-83 BS (2025-26) today, Gurung emphasized that such an investigation, conducted by a powerful body, would help curb corruption and promote good governance.

He further stressed that any property whose source cannot be traced should be seized.

While welcoming the government’s policies and programs, which were presented by President Ramchandra Paudel before the joint session of the Federal Parliament on May 2, Gurung expressed support for amending the document based on consensus.

He also called for the formation of an all-party committee to begin the constitutional amendment process, urging political parties to set aside their ideologies for the country’s development.
