Death toll in Dhankuta bus accident rises to three



BHOJPUR: The death toll in the bus accident that occurred at Dhankuta Municipality-6 has risen to three after 58-year-old Leela Bahadur Shrestha of Shadananda Municipality-13 passed away early this morning.

According to police, Shrestha died during treatment at BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences (BPKIHS) in Dharan at around 4:00 am.

The accident took place on Monday when a bus (Ko 1 Kha 2177), en route to Dhankuta from Dharan, met with a mishap.

Two others—Krishna Kumari Bhujel, 73, of Dhankuta Municipality-6, and Rudra Tamang, 51, the driver from Dharan Sub-Metropolitan City-13—also died during treatment at Dhankuta Hospital on Monday.

Several passengers were injured in the crash, including Surya Mani Tamang and Anamol Tamang of Shadananda Municipality-13, Krishna Raut of Barahachhetra Municipality-2, Ganga Prasad Sapkota of Pauwadungma Rural Municipality-3, Sabina Baraili and Devi BK of Bhojpur Municipality-11, Hansha Bahadur Rai and Dirgha Maya Rai of Sagurigadhi Rural Municipality-6, Purna Maya Tamang of Shadananda Municipality-11, Ayush Rai of Itahari, and Dhan Kumar BK of Dhankuta-6.

The injured are receiving treatment at Dhankuta Hospital, Nobel Hospital, and BPKIHS.
