Nagdhunga–Naubise road section to close at night from May 5

KATHMANDU: The Nagdhunga–Naubise section of the Tribhuvan Highway will be closed nightly from May 5 to May 14 due to ongoing construction and improvement work on the Nagdhunga–Piplamod road segment.

The Nagdhunga–Mugling Road Project (Eastern Section) has stated that preparations are underway to manage traffic during the closure period. Superintendent of Police Apil Raj Bohara, spokesperson for the District Police Range, Kathmandu, confirmed coordination with the relevant authorities to implement the necessary measures.

According to a public notice issued by the project in coordination with the respective District Administration Office, vehicular movement along this section will be halted from 11:00 PM to 3:00 AM each night.

During the closure, vehicles heading out of Kathmandu will be stopped at the Nagdhunga checkpoint, while vehicles traveling towards Kathmandu from Naubise will be halted at the Khatrapauwa bridge.

To reduce inconvenience, motorists are advised to use alternative routes such as the Sitapaila–Bhimdhunga–Ramkot–Dharke road or the Samakhushi–Tokha–Gurjebhanjyang–Chhahare–Trishuli–Galchhi route.

All stopped vehicles will be allowed to proceed only after 3:00 AM. The notice urges drivers to maintain lane discipline and avoid overtaking while in queues. Ambulances and vehicles belonging to security agencies will be permitted to pass without restrictions.
