East-West Highway blocked after diversion swept away in Dumkibas

NAWALPUR: Traffic along the Narayanghat-Butwal section of the East-West Highway has come to a halt after a diversion in Dumkibas was swept away by flooding.

According to the District Police Office, the diversion—constructed to reroute traffic following the collapse of a bridge over the Binyi River—was washed away by a sudden flood early this morning.

Information Officer Madhu Nepal confirmed that the damage has forced the complete closure of the highway, stranding goods and large vehicles in the Hongsi Gate and Arunkhola areas.

While small vehicles and passengers are being redirected through alternative routes, authorities have stated that it will take time to fully restore the affected road section.
