Reactionaries have been exposed; it’s over now: PM Oli

BIRATNAGAR: Prime Minister (PM) KP Oli has reiterated that there is no longer any possibility of reactionary forces making a comeback in Nepal’s political landscape.

Speaking at the inauguration of the Koshi Investment Summit in Biratnagar on Thursday, Prime Minister Oli said that while there have been attempts by regressive elements to re-enter the political arena, such efforts have no future.

“Federalism and republicanism are relatively new in Nepal, so attempts at regression are not surprising. Such efforts are made globally. But in Nepal, there is no possibility for these forces to return,” he said.

Referring to recent political developments, Oli added, “They revealed their character on March 28. Now, it’s over.”

He accused the so-called reactionaries of displaying authoritarian behavior and cited recent controversies involving artist Prakash Saput and actress Suraksha Pant as examples.

“Their character has become evident. Some artists appreciated certain individuals, and some political parties supported them. But those same parties then behaved intolerantly toward a cine artist. One actress simply said someone would be good in a film role, and now people are saying not to watch her movies,” PM Oli said.

The Prime Minister called on investors to have confidence in Nepal’s stability, assuring them that law and order in the country is well-maintained.

He also highlighted progress in infrastructure, noting improvements in road and air connectivity. “Soon, a waterway linking the Koshi River to the Ganga will also be operational,” he announced.
