KATHMANDU: The teachers’ street protest, which had continued for nearly a month, has been called off today following a nine-point agreement with the government.
The breakthrough came after talks between teacher representatives and Education Minister Raghuji Pant concluded with a formal agreement on Wednesday. The Council of Ministers endorsed all points of the agreement the same day.
With the suspension of all protest activities, Minister Pant announced that student enrollment will begin immediately, and regular educational activities—halted for weeks—will now resume.
Minister Pant confirmed that the government has addressed the key demands of the teachers, leading to the complete withdrawal of the protest program.
