NEPSE drops to 2,631 points, trading volume also declines



KATHMANDU: The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index dropped to 2,631.28 points on Tuesday, marking a decline of 15.08 points compared to the previous trading day.

Alongside the index, overall trading volume also saw a decline, with turnover falling from Rs. 8.91 billion on Monday to Rs. 7.57 billion.

Out of the traded companies, share prices of 57 increased while 188 declined. All sectoral indices registered losses.

The finance sector experienced the sharpest drop at 1.22 percent. Other notable declines were seen in banking (0.57%), development banks (0.90%), hotels and tourism (0.63%), hydropower (0.20%), investment (0.83%), life insurance (0.54%), manufacturing (0.34%), microfinance (0.78%), non-life insurance (0.32%), trading (0.51%), and others (0.75%).

Despite the overall decline, a few companies posted notable gains. Nepal Micro Insurance and Crest Micro Life Insurance each surged by the daily limit of 10 percent.

Bhulekhani Energy rose by 9 percent, Radhi Bidyut by 7 percent, and Corporate Development Bank by 6.6 percent.

On the downside, Madhya Bhotekoshi Hydropower plunged by 9.8 percent, Green Development Bank dropped 7.7 percent, Sindhu Bikas Bank fell 6.6 percent, and Greenlife Hydropower declined by 4.5 percent.

The most actively traded companies in terms of volume were Sanima Mai Hydropower, Ngadi Group Power, Radhi Bidyut, NRN Infrastructure, and HIDCL. The total market capitalization has now decreased to Rs. 4,376 billion.
