Free OPD and online health consultation launched for returnee migrant workers

KATHMANDU: The Shaheed Dharmabhakta National Transplantation Center in Bhaktapur has launched a free outpatient (OPD) clinic and a 24-hour online health consultation service for Nepalis returning from foreign employment.

The service was inaugurated by Minister for Health and Population Pradeep Paudel during a special event marking the 13th anniversary of the center.

Minister Paudel highlighted that the initiative aims to make health consultations more accessible for Nepalis abroad.

In collaboration with the Ministry of Labor and Employment and the Ministry of Health, the service allows individuals working overseas to seek medical advice through toll-free calls and social media platforms.

To ensure easy and convenient access to healthcare, a separate free OPD has been set up specifically for returnee migrant workers.

The Minister emphasized the rising number of returning workers suffering from organ-related illnesses, adding that this initiative is designed to support them in safeguarding their health.

“We are seeing an increase in organ failure cases among returnee workers. This service is an effort to help those who are going abroad, currently employed overseas, or have returned home,” he said.

A dedicated helpline has been made available for around-the-clock health support: 9763490900.
