Agitating teachers to continue protest even today

KATHMANDU: Teachers across the country, under the leadership of the Nepal Teachers Federation, will continue their Kathmandu-based protest today.

Demonstrations have been ongoing in the capital with teachers demanding the enactment of the School Education Act.

Federation President Laxmi Kishor Subedi stated via Facebook that today’s protest will begin at 9 a.m. at Maitighar Mandala.

He urged participants to continue their movement with discipline, restraint, and dignity, emphasizing that there is no alternative but to persist for a few more days.

Despite repeated negotiations and appeals from the government for teachers to return to work, the protesters remain firm in their stance, insisting they will not go home until their demands are addressed.

So far, discussions with the Prime Minister, Speaker, and Minister of Education have failed to produce a resolution.

Even after the government convened a session of Parliament with the promise to fulfill the teachers’ demands, the protesting educators remain unconvinced.
