At least 35 civilians killed at a wedding party in Afghanistan



KABUL: At least 35 people attending a wedding party were killed by gunfire and explosions during a raid by Afghan government forces in southern Helmand province.

More than 13 people have been wounded, international media reports have said.

Authorities said the house being used by the Taliban to train and prepare suicide bombers was located adjacent to the bride’s home.

According to a senior Afghan Defense Ministry official, the raid was carried out against a terrorist group engaged in organizing terrorist attacks, reports said.

A warehouse of the terrorists’ equipment and supplies was also demolished. (Agencies)
