KATHMANDU: The Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) is holding a meeting of its Central Working Committee today at 11 am at the party’s central office in Dhumbarahi, according to party spokesperson Mohan Shrestha.
The meeting is expected to focus on recent political developments, including the arrest of senior vice-chair Rabindra Mishra and general secretary and lawmaker Dhawal Shamsher Rana.
Both leaders were taken into custody during a royalist demonstration held at Tinkune, Kathmandu on March 28. The RPP has continued to demand their immediate release.
In response to the arrests, the party organized a vigil and protest meeting in Balkhu on April 8, led by Chair Rajendra Lingden.
The demonstrations centered on the RPP’s long-standing demands for the reinstatement of the monarchy and the abolition of the federal system.
The party is also preparing for a Kathmandu-centric movement scheduled for April 20, which will likely be discussed further in today’s meeting.
